4 Very Effective Black Hair Care Tips

Korean man with black hairImage via Wikipedia

According the figures put forth by the United States Census Bureau, 13.6% of the American population had black or dark hair in July 2009. This number has only surged through 2010. Black color hair can be suitably utilized for creating some of the most innovative and flaunt-worthy hair styles. However, it is imperative to take care of them well. Black hair care tips are essentially different from those suitable for the regular blonde types. Therefore, some useful tips can be of great help.

Black Hair Care: Things to Do

The most suitable option would be to seek the advice of an expert cosmetologist for effective practices pertaining to black hair care. However, if you are looking to save on the consultations fees, some appropriate black hair care products supplies along with basic usage tips could do the trick for you. These would include:

1. You should wash black hair at least once in a couple of weeks. Never wash them more than twice a week. Other hair types would require frequent hair washes to keep the excess oil off. However, black color hair requires more time for assimilating oil. Washing them too often will dry them out. You should also abstain from blow drying your black strands as much as possible.

2. A conditioner is a must for treating black or dark hair. You can use a rinse off conditioner or a one that needs to be left on. These will help in retaining moisture and keep the strands soft and supple.

3. One of the most essential black hair care products would be your hair oil. Black color hair needs to be oiled at least once a week, on an average. However, the frequency will depend on the amount of hair that you have. If the locks are thick, you might consider oiling them once in a couple of days. Oil is essential because this kind of hair is prone to dryness and dandruff. If you find dandruff on your hair strands or on your forehead after brushing, it is time for a hair wash.

4. It is important to maintain black color hair impeccably. Always remember to chop off split ends, as and when they appear. Split ends can not only make your locks look unkempt, they can also hinder the growth of the strands from the tips to the scalp.

These commonplace black hair care tips can surely go a long way in keeping your hair silky and stylish.

Petite Modeling: Is There A Career For You?

Petite modeling is a tough industry to break into. Especially since most modeling agencies won't represent models unless they're 5 feet and 9 inches tall or taller. Have you had people tell you that you're cute? Do you hear all the time that, "you should be a model," but you just don't qualify for the strict standards that most modeling angencies have?
Rest assured there is a career out there for the petite model. There is work in the worlds of fashion, commercial publishing, and many other industries for the less than 5 feet 9 inch models. There is even work for models as short as 5 feet tall.

Most of the work in the petite modeling industry involoves close up pictures of the face, hands, feet or other body parts instead of the body as a whole. The fashion modeling industry, however, is very body focused. That is why they have such stringent height requirements for their models.

As a petite or average size model, you would probably not be working much in the fashion industry, so bodily imperfections and height are not usually factors. Even a fairly average-looking person can be very successful in this industry if they are willing to work hard, get the job done, and show clients they are easy to work with.

So how do you get in to this specialized segment of the modeling market? First, remember the focus in this market is very much on the face rather than the figure. To make it in this market, you need to have nice skin, a good bone structure, good teeth, and be cute. Most of your success will also be based on the look that is "in" at the moment.

To find out if you have any chance of success as a petite model, you need to get an evaluation from an agency or someone who has contact with clients within the industry. This will tell you if you have the look that their clients are hiring at the moment.

If you are told you just don't have the right look at the moment, don't despair. The modeling industry moves at a fast pace, and what's not in now could be the rave in the next 6 months.

The models in this segment of the market are often paid very well because advertisers usually focus more on the look of the models face than her figure. Advertisers usually have more money to spend than many clients in the fashion industry, and a good model could make as much as $125.00 per hour on her first job.

Not cute? Don't think you have that "glamourous" look that could get you high paying jobs as a model? Don't despair, because even a normal person can get high paying jobs in this industry if they are easy to work with and sparkle on camera. A plain model who exhibits spark and vitality is more likely to get the job than a beautiful model who is lifeless.

Photographers and clients would rather work with a model who is vibrant and easy to work with than a beautiful one who is honery, does not take instructions well, and acts "snobby" or conceited on the job. Putting too high a price on yourself in this highly competitive industry many times will cause clients to pass you over for a more pleasant model.

Rest assured there is plenty of work in this industry if you have the looks, talent, and are easy to work with.

Current Shoe Trends

From a quick glance at the catwalks, it would seem that women's footwear is increasingly adopting styles that were traditionally considered the exclusive preserve of the male sex, such as worker boots and Oxford brogues. So what can men wear now?

This year, it looks like there are going to be two narrow toe shapes dominating male footwear fashion, namely apron toes and bicycle toes. Apron toes have a seam that goes up the side, across the front, and down the other side, and as their name would suggest, this makes an apron like shape.

A shoe featuring a bicycle toe has two seams running down both sides of the front of the shoe, running down to the sole at the front of the shoe. These are expected to be very big this year.

The style that you should go for very much depends on the size of your feet. If you have small feet, you might want to go for a bicycle toe, as they make your feet look larger, whereas if you have big feet, you might be better with an apron toe, which has the opposite effect.

The one theme that has dominated the catwalks so far this year is that of travel, with a strong 1940s or 50s bias. This theme comes through very strongly in some of the more fashionable shoe designs from this year.

One shoe that picks up on the men's fashion trend for travel is the espadrille. A traditional lightweight shoe originating from the Pyrenees, it has a rope or rope-like sole and a canvas top. Very breathable, and effortlessly stylish, these look set to be big news when summer rolls around.

If you want a shoe to go with this seasons tailored suits, then you might want to get hold of a pair of patent leather shoes. These shiny marvels look great in black, but can also look striking with a coloured or metallic finish.

When it comes to sports shoes, you can expect to see a lot of tennis shoes, in traditional white or modern high gloss colour, in 2010. These go rather nicely with chinos and rolled up jeans, and fit in perfectly with the 40s world travel look.
