New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh police on Tuesday arrested Lucknow's former chief medical officer AK Shukla for embezzlement of funds. He was arrested from a trauma centre in the city.
Shukla, who was also accused in the National Rural Health Mission (NHRM) funds embezzlement case, had been under the scanner for his role in the murder of Lucknow CMO's BP Singh and Vinod Arya, along with Dr Sachan.
"Doctor Shukla was arrested from the trauma centre of Chattrapati Shahuji Maharaj Nagar Medical University this morning," Deputy Inspector General of Police Lucknow D K Thakur said.
"Shukla has been arrested in financial iiregularities case when he was in the Lucknow CMO office... So far we have no evidence to link him for murders... He was at the Trauma Centre at around 9:45 am," added Thakur
The police had registered a case against Shukla on April 7 for embezzlement of funds, just two days after Sachan was arrested for the same charge.
Significantly Dr Sachan was to be questioned on Shukla's involvement in the fund misappropriation case a day after he died.
