SEO Basics - Three Simple Steps

Webmaster and website plus graphics, search en...Image via WikipediaSearch engine optimization is important when it comes to making a site visible on the web. If you wish for your content and products to be noticed without having to break the bank on advertising, you will need to learn SEO strategies. The entire process is quite simple, although many webmasters would like you to think otherwise because they want your money. They don't want you to know that you could easily improve the rankings of your blog across the web with understandable SEO techniques. With the right marketing campaign, your website could have high rankings on search engines, receive a better pagerank and get a huge amount of targeted web surfers.

There are a few main steps you should include in your SEO blueprint. Each step is crucial to the overall success of your internet marketing plan. Without one step, the other has the possibility to not reach the results you desire. You want your website to obtain authority status and hard work will prove successful. Keep in mind, you will have competition no matter which niche you go with. Your competitors are one step ahead of you by taking the necessary steps to gain high search engine placements and they are reaping all the benefits.

Step 1. Long-tail Keyword Research

Picking keywords for your site is highly important in today's internet age. In past days, it was not really a concern because you did not see very many sites that were trying to outrank one another. However, today there are lots of new sites being created all the time. Many of these sites are competing for highly searched terms that are just about impossible to rank for. What many site developers don't understand is that there are plenty of long-tail terms that are much easier to rank for. The webmasters who already gained this info have researched search queries to find the long-tail keywords which have a huge search volume, but a small amount of competition. When you have found a few easy ranking keywords, you should include them in your website content and backlinks you build off-site.

Step 2. On-Page Optimization

Optimizing the written material found on your site is something every webmaster should do if they are serious about their rankings. It is the single most important factor in improving your websites visibility on search engines. You could potentially skip steps 1 and 3 and still find your website performing great on search engines by writing unique, engaging content that gains the attention of users. Web searchers type queries into a search form and use specific keyword strings. If your website used that exact string and no other site has, your site has the likelihood of showing up in search results for that query. Optimizing your content involves building content that is in your own words and not copying other people's hard work. Copying other website's articles is considered plagiarism and many websites frown upon it. Write your content naturally and place your primary keywords in paragraphs, meta tags and heading tags.

Step 3. Off-site Optimization

Optimizing off-site content by building backlinks from well-known websites will help boost steps 1 and 2. When your site is linked to from other sites that a search engine named an authority, your site gets noticed. When spiders find more than one site that link to your website, search engines think your content is valuable and they re-evaluate your in search result listings. The more backlinks you create, the more likely your sites chances are of also being considered an authority on the web. The search engines weigh factors such as the pagerank, anchor text of backlinks, outbound links and more. To gain better rankings easily, place your main keywords in backlink anchor text. Submit your site to various internet properties every day and use a backlinks checker to maintain your progress.

5 Simple Ways to Increase Website Traffic

Let’s be honest. You simply must increase website traffic. You may have the best looking website with the most relevant and informative content in your niche, but if no one sees it who’s to know it exists?
This article introduces you to five simple ways to increase website traffic.
Safelist Email Marketing:
Our first way to increase website traffic is with safelist email marketing. A safelist is a list of members who agree to receive commercial emails from the other list members. In exchange for receiving those emails, you are able to send an email to the other members. This is a great and often over looked way to expose your website to a large number of people quickly and build your list of emails.
Many marketers make the mistake of trying to make a sale with their email. The successful marketer draws attention to their site with a captivating headline and a valuable freebie.
JV Giveaway Events:
A JV giveaway event is set up by a sponsor who invites marketers to contribute freebies to the online event. The sponsors and contributing members then invite people to come to the event to get these freebies. The visitor gets a good informative report, piece of software, or an Ebook for free. The marketer gets a new potential customer to their site and sign up on their list of emails.
Two keys to the most success with a JV Giveaway event are; one find an event that is either sponsored by a well known name in the industry or has well known contributors. Two is to have a good freebie that is not over used by other marketers.
List Swaps:
ListSwaps are a good way to find targeted website traffic. Two marketers agree to send an email, introducing the other marketer, to their list of followers. Many marketers have very large lists that they will introduce your website to. If your list is smaller, negotiate sending a repeat email to your list or they send to only a portion of their list.
The key to making ListSwaps work is by capturing the new visitors email address so you can continue to contact them.
Blog Commenting:
There are blogs devoted to every niche. Blogs are designed to be more social than conventional websites and visitors usually can add their comments. Bloggers need and want people to interact and have conversations to increase the popularity of their blogs. For you commenting on blogs that are related to your website gives your site exposure.
The key for success with blog commenting is to make your comments valuable. The traffic generated will come to your site because it is interested in learning more from you.
Article Marketing:
Posting articles to directories and other websites are a long term method of increasing website traffic. With article marketing you write and informative article on a topic within your niche and post it to article directories or give it to other marketers to post on their website. At the end of your article you give a little information about your site. People will come to your site to learn more.
Any one of these or a combination will increase website traffic to your site. The key to all of these methods is to do them. Then take time to learn the intricacies of each to maximize your success.
