Train Your Dog and Make Him Something to Be Proud Of

What would you do if confronted with a problem you didn't know how to solve? Would you ignore it and bury your head in the sand, or would you try to find the solution? In life, there are times that you are confronted with such a task. You may find that your dog is confronted in much the same ways. We expect our pets to behave in certain ways, such as not barking excessively or not jumping up on people. Being that dogs can't talk, it is hard to make him act like you think he should, but it can be done.

If we want to learn more about a subject, we go to training on it. We have training classes for just about everything, and there are classes out there for dogs as well. Most people expect their animals to know how to behave themselves in society. You have to make sure your pet knows the rules of society and that they follow them. There are many different types of training classes available. There are some for obedience, some for potty training, and even training to teach your dog a specific job. These all help your pet be more adapted to thrive in civilized society.

Just as you have a bedroom at home where you sleep, your dog may use a crate for his bed. You should make sure he knows that is where he is expected to sleep. Crate training is one of the first things to teach your dog. The way to do this is not much different than teaching a young child to stay in his bed. You tell your child to let you know if he has to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. You need to do this with your pet as well. By crate and potty training your dog, you will teach him that he can't just go anywhere or anytime he wants.

After these basics, you need to train your dog in other areas as well. You need to teach your dog manners on walks, and let him know who is friend, and who is not. You don't want him barking at everyone he sees just because he sees someone at the door. You also need to teach your dog to be obedient. Your dog will learn much the same way you would, with repetitive lessons and practice.

Training your dog can be fun and frustrating in the same breath, especially if your dog or puppy seems disinterested in the training. With time and patience, once they have mastered what you've taught them, you can tell people "this is my dog" with great pride. If you simply cannot get your puppy trained, don't abandon him, find a more loving, patient owner that will spend the time with him that you couldn't.
